About Us

Preparing Lifelong Learners is actually a husband and wife team, both of us with 14 years of teaching experience. Along our 14 year journey three kids and a dog have joined us. This blog is about our teaching experiences in our classrooms and teaching our own children.

WHO WE ARE

The wife
Jen is currently teaching Title One teacher (reading and math) and literacy coach. Previously she was a district K-8 Literacy Teaching and Learning Facilitator (which is fancy for district reading coach). Before that, she taught 4th and 5th grade elementary and 6th, 7th and 8th grade middle school science.

The husband
Tim is currently teaching middle school social studies. Previously, he was a Teaching and Learning Facilitator for a 1-8 public school Montessori (that's fancy for Instructional Coach). In his teaching career he has taught just about anything social studies. He has taught western hemisphere geography, eastern hemisphere geography, american history (middle school and high school), high school civics, high school global issues, high school human geography, economics, a current events class and was even an athletic director for his high school for a year!

OUR HISTORY

The Team
We met when we happened to be on a middle school team together- he taught social studies, she taught science. Together we have three kids. The oldest is 9 and loving elementary school. The middle is 7 and learning the basics of reading. The youngest is almost 1 and just learning to walk. Together we have a passion for learning and love anything that involves education (we've been to a million zoos, aquariums, etc.)!
