Lesson Planning with Marzano
As my first post I'd love to share with you my most valuable lesson planning tool; Marzano's Learning Map. I start and end all of my planning using this, and not just because it's a huge part of my evaluation.
Using the Learning Map really helps drive my unit/lesson planning. It has all of the classroom strategies and behaviors from the Art and Science of Teaching in one document. We happen to use it for our evaluations, but if you google "Marzano Learning Map" an entire page of results show up!
How do I use the strategies and behaviors?
As I'm mapping or planning out a unit/topic I start by looking at the list and deciding which would work for this topic. I've also identified some that I can use for any topic (pre and posts tests), and some that are on the spot strategies (but really can be planned for or part of your routines). I'll post more about those later!
Most of the posts that will be on my blog (Tim's blog) will focus around lesson planning and my secondary classroom. If you are interested make sure to sign up for our email list to be notified when there's a new blog post!
